There are two main ways to get your philanthropy point. The first is to participate in one of our charity fundraisers. The second way, which we HIGHLY encourage, is to give a presentation on an important issue which affects women and girls during a meeting.
Step One: choose and research a topic. It can contemporary or historical; local or abroad. It can be a problem we need to fix, or it can be a favorite charity you think we should raise money for or fundraising idea you have- anything which you think the club should be aware of. Basically, the only requirement is that it have some connection to women and girls. Don't know what you want to do it on? Check out our inspiration page for ideas!
Step Two: Make a presentation on your topic. This can be a video (check out our youtube playlist for examples), a prezi, a powerpoint, a poster, or anything else you can think of. It should include discussion questions to stimulate a conversation with other members, which you will facilitate. Try to keep it specific, and to address multiple sides of the issue. Also, don't just talk about something horrible and leave us depressed- talk about solutions to the problem and different organizations which are trying to solve it!
Step Tree: Reserve a time slot and Give your presentation. Once you are ready to present, contact our secretary, Skyla Savage. She will schedule you for our next available meeting. When you present, remember to speak loudly and keep it interesting (DON'T just read your slides!!!). Try to make your presentation around 5-15 min long, and remember to emphasize discussion and member participation afterward.
